Montenegro PM to step down in October PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 02 September 2010

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic will definitively step down possibly in mid-October in order to take up a post in NATO, but he could remain a leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) until its congress due to disagreements involving his successor, reports local Montenegrin newspaper "Dan".

The daily claims that it is almost certain that Vice PM and deputy DPS president Svetozar Marovic would quit politics.

"Dan" citing party sources says that Djukanovic will be replaced as premier by Dusko Markovic, ex-head of the Agency for National Security. Djukanovic is expected to be proclaimed honorary president of DPS.
