Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) announces that in
Macedonia, 21 percent of energy will be produced from renewable
resources by 2020. At the moment, renewable energy accounts for 13.8
percent.
According to economy minister Fatmir Besimi, the focus and goal of the
study on renewable resources, which was conducted by MANU, is to develop
renewable energy production, which is important for sustainable
development as well as physical and social environment.
"In these terms, Macedonia will have a good document based on which it
will develop energy in the future, and we will try hard to coordinate it
with the EU standards," Besimi added. Moreover, the study includes all
facilities that produce energy in Macedonia, as well as potential
locations for the construction of new ones.
