Skopje residents felt a tremor today afternoon, but the quake was centered outside Macedonian soil, said the Faculty of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (IZIIS) at the Skopje-based Faculty of Natural Sciences & Mathematics.
The Institute says the epicenter of the earthquake measuring 4.5 to 4.7 degrees on the Richter was in Kosovo, Zubin Potok hamlet, in the hamlet of Istok.
Macedonian seismologists said the quake struck at 14:38 hrs local time.
Mihail Garevski, Director of IZIIS, described it as low-magnitude quake causing no damage. He added that the quake is not linked to Macedonia's epicentral area or the Skopje area.
He also ruled out any link with the heavy rain and snow showers that tightened their grip on the Balkan region in the past few days.
