German Humor enrages Greece PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 23 February 2010

Greece's Foreign Ministry has called the German Ambassador in Athens for discussion after an article in German magazine Focus hurt Greek's feelings.

Interestingly enough, the Greeks don't seem to mind the negative write up in the magazine, rather concentrate on Focus' magazine cover where a what appears to be half naked Venus (the goddess of Love) sculpture wrapped in blue and white flag gives the finger. The German magazine devoted its weekly magazine to Greece, with the title "The Liars in the Euro Family"

Greek parliament members speaking to Athens media claimed the Germans must be careful what they say about their country because the Balkan nation is one of the top buyers of German weaponry. Though word has gotten out of German manufacturer (HDW) that Greece is the last country they would sell weapons because they still haven't collected money for the submarines they shipped few years ago.

Western humor and freedom of speech remains a thorn issue for inter state tensions.  Recently several European countries and Germany in particular have been on the offensive against Athens due to their debt problems.

But as our MINA analyst Gorazd Velkovski says, EU has a hidden agenda and are using the Balkan nation's debt problem for much more sinister plans. More on that later.

donBasilo, now that you spoke of the German weapons, here is what I know:
The Greek Govt. did not have the money to pay for the Submarines and the Tanks, so they started making up Stories "The Door knob doesn't work, This doesn't Work, That Doesn't work" with the Goal the Germans will lower the price. This backfired because the German firm as well as their Govt. became super pissed at the way Greece conducted itself.
The Germans knew Athens has no money to pay for it, but the fact they lied that it doesn't work properly to get a discount... it will cost you...

GERMAN ARMS
The canons of Leopard tanks that Greece bought from Germany fire once and they ...peel off! The manufacturer blamed bad quality Swedish steel. The first submarine delivered to Greece could not be accepted because it could not sail ...straight ! (It remained tilted at an angle).

Who are the real liars now, the Germans or the Greeks?
