The project of reconstruction of Edvard Rusjan airport in Maribor will
cost EUR 15.28 million. The biggest portion of which (EUR 11.12
million) will be acquired from the European Regional Development Fund,
while the rest will be covered with Government budget funds, announced
the Ministry of Transport. The project is a logical continuation of the
improvement of airport infrastructure, which has been implemented from
2004 to 2007, which were worth EUR 4.38 million.
At the end of 2009 the airport concluded the selection of the general
contractor tasked with drawing up the main plan of the airport, in
which Airport Consulting Vienna and the Ljubljana Spatial Planning
Institute were chosen as the most affordable bidders. The completion of
the renovation of the passenger terminal is scheduled for 2011.
